Singularity ("the game", "we", "us") is a single-player incremental game in which you play a black hole and swallow everything lighter than you. We collect as little data as possible — just enough to run the collection leaderboard, to see whether the game is working for players in aggregate, and, when we advertise the game, to measure which campaign led to your install. This page explains what we collect and why.
Information we collect
- Nickname — a name you choose (up to 14 characters). It is shown publicly on the leaderboard. You can change it at any time from the home screen or the Boards panel.
- Collection score and progress figures — the score derived from the objects you have collected in the codex, the number of entries, and an order-preserving figure derived from the total mass you have absorbed, submitted with a timestamp. These are published once per app launch, not continuously.
- Anonymous account ID — a random identifier created by Firebase Anonymous Authentication so the game can keep your leaderboard entry across sessions. It is not linked to your real name, email, phone number, or any other real-world identity, and you never create an account or sign in.
- Analytics events (Google Analytics for Firebase) — a small, fixed set of gameplay milestones (your first absorption, your first producer purchase, each purchase, each new scene reached, each trial cleared or lost), plus the app opens and sessions the SDK collects automatically. These carry a Firebase installation/app-instance identifier and standard device information (model, OS version, country-level location derived from IP). We use them in aggregate to see where players get stuck; we do not use them to identify you.
- Advertising identifier & attribution data (Adjust) — we use Adjust, a mobile measurement provider, to measure installs, sessions, and the same handful of gameplay milestones, and — when we promote the game through advertising — to understand which campaign led to your install. This may include your device's Google Advertising ID (GAID) on Android, the vendor identifier (IDFV) on iOS, a truncated IP address, and basic device and install/event information. It is used for attribution and aggregate measurement only, not to identify you personally, and the game itself shows no ads.
- Apple SKAdNetwork (iOS) — when you install the game after seeing one of our advertisements, Apple may send a privacy-preserving, aggregated install postback to the advertising network and to Adjust. This is handled by iOS itself and contains no identifier for you. The game does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission and therefore does not read the IDFA.
Information we do NOT collect
- No real name, email address, phone number, or postal address.
- No precise or coarse location. (Analytics infers only a country from the IP address.)
- No contacts, photos, files, microphone, or camera access.
- No IDFA and no App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.
- No in-app advertising — the game shows no ads. (We do read your device's advertising identifier for install attribution only — see above.)
- No profile-based ad targeting inside the game, and no selling of your data.
- No purchases — the game has no in-app purchases and takes no payment information.
How we use your information
- To display the collection leaderboard (your nickname and collection score).
- To keep your leaderboard entry attached to you across sessions, via the anonymous account ID.
- To understand, in aggregate, how far players get and where they stop — so we can fix the parts of the game that are not working.
- To measure installs/sessions/milestones and, when advertising, attribute installs to campaigns (aggregate measurement only).
Where your data is stored and who can access it
Leaderboard and analytics data is stored and processed using Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Google Analytics for Firebase), which acts as our data processor. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security terms and the Google Privacy Policy.
Attribution and measurement data is processed by Adjust acting as our service provider, under Adjust's Privacy Policy. When you install the game after interacting with one of our advertisements, Adjust shares limited attribution information — such as which advertising campaign led to the install — with the advertising network that served the ad, so the campaign's performance can be measured. We do not sell your data, and apart from this attribution measurement we do not share it with advertisers or other third parties.
Network access
The app uses the internet only to publish and read leaderboard entries, to send analytics events, and to send attribution measurements to Adjust. The game itself is fully playable offline — your progress is saved on your device, and the leaderboard simply shows its last known state.
Data retention and deletion
Your leaderboard entry is kept while the leaderboard exists. To have your nickname and leaderboard entry deleted, email us at the address below and we will remove them; tell us the nickname you used. Deleting the app also stops any further data being sent. Analytics and attribution records expire on Google's and Adjust's own retention schedules.
Your choices
You can reset your device's advertising identifier or opt out of ad personalization at any time in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → "Reset advertising ID" / "Delete advertising ID"; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking). Doing so limits attribution measurement; it does not affect your saved progress or the leaderboard. You may also play without a network connection, in which case nothing leaves your device.
Children's privacy
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only personal data the game stores is a nickname you choose. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above before the change ships in a release.
